Small Pearl Pod Pendant

From our 'Pearl Pod' series, inspired by oak leaf galls, sterling silver pendant with a white freshwater pearl set in a round pod.

A pearl pod begins its life as an orb that grows on an oak tree leaf. We took the gall off the leaf and cut it open in the front, cleaned it out, and placed a cup inside to seat the freshwater pearl. We then made a mold of the pod, and transformed it into sterling silver using lost wax casting technology. The silver is given a heavy antique finish.

Dimensions: 1/2 inch wide, 3/4 inches tall, including bail, strung on antiqued sterling silver 1.5mm rolo chain with lobster clasp. The second photo here is taken on a standard, 2x3" business card.
