Sterling Pod Earrings with Amber Yolks

Pod begins its life as a gall that grows on the underside of an oak tree leaf. (See last pic in pic gallery.) We took the gall off the leaf and cut it open in the front, cleaned it out, and placed a cup inside to seat the Baltic amber cabochon. We then made a mold of the pod, and transformed it into sterling silver using lost wax casting technology.

24 kt gold backing under amber

SIZE:
Earrings are about 1/2 inch wide, 1 1/2 inches tall, including earhook.

WEIGHT:
One earring weighs 3.5 grams. (A nickel weighs 5 grams).
