Marcus Berkner Designs is based near the Oregon coast, so we get to see lots of sealife, including starfish.
The photos above are pic that we took near Florence Oregon. (Click on any image to see large pic.) The starfish can be seen at low tide in tidepools, which are a combination of volcanic rocks and beach sand. Oh, and mussels and starfish and anemones. The pic to the left is a wide angle view of a tidepool area. Unfortunately I have never seen an aqua and blue specimen, like the above pendant, but I will post it if I ever do!
A starfish's diet usually includes mussels, oysters, clams and anything else that it can catch. Their mouth is underneath in the middle of their body. Some species eat plants.
Starfish reproduce externally, similar to most fish. Some species can also grow new arms when injured. Some can even grow another whole individual out of a single arm!
