Peonies and Gold Foil Earrings

Lampwork beads are created by heating glass rods under a flame until they are about the consistency of honey. The molten glass is gradually added to a steel rod.

In the case of the peonies beads, when the beads are about 3/4 of the desired size, they are rolled in 24 ky gold that has been flattened very thin.

The flowers are then 'painted' on using molten glass of different colors. Finally, a layer of clear glass covers the beads to magnify and enrich the look of the foil and flowers.
