Recent improvements in freshwater pearl farming has yielded beautiful, high luster pearls. (Remember the tiny wrinkled, rice shaped freshwater pearls of a few years back?)

By using special farming techniques, freshwater pearls can be offered in a range of natural colors, from white to pale pink to pale lavender. Special heat-treating (not dying) allows for the darker 'peacock' colors. We avoid the unnatural, brightly colored 'dyed' pearls, as these are usually not color-fast and can fade or dull over time.

Swarovski crystals are cut and polished one facet at a time, which gives the crystal beads a crisp, sharp look, unlike fire polishing which gives the edges a rounded plastic look.

In order to boost the sparkle of the finished crystal, heavy metals are added to the glass when molten to give the glass a higher refractive index, think diamonds.
