Although lapis is found in several areas of the world, we use only Afghan lapis, which boasts the highest gemstone quality available. Azure-blue lapis has been held in high esteem for millennia. Referred to in ancient Egyptian texts (see quote above), buried in tombs with pharoahs and Sumerian royalty, used as medicine by ancient Romans.
