Classic white freshwater pearls strung with silver and gold clasps.
Naturally occuring pearls are rare. One source puts the number at one in 10,000 chance of a molusk producing a pearl. Cultured pearl farming ups the odds a bit, in fact several pearls can be cultivated within one host.
Cultured pearls are not synthetic, the pearl is grown similar to a naturally occuring pearl. The difference is that the pearl farmer starts the process instead of leaving it to chance.
Freshwater pearls are cultivated, as the name implies, in a freshwater environment. Since the process is controlled, the shape and color of the pearl can be chosen to some degree. This greatly enhances the chance for jewelry grade material.
