About Earhooks and Posts
Earhooks
Great choice for medium to large bead earrings.
Earhooks tend to be the most affordable choice, since they are basically just a hardened wire bent into a hook shape. They are also usually indestructable. Even if the shape gets slighly distorted, they can easily be bent back into shape. Some wearers pinch them together slightly so that they stay put better when worn.
The biggest disadvantage is that they can at times come off when being worn. This worry is easily solved with secure earring backs. We supply rubber earring backs with all of our hook earrings.
Posts
Another good choice. Our earposts come with sterling silver or gold backs that snap onto the post when worn. Posts should only be used for smaller earrings.
Leverbacks
We use leverbacks at times, especially for gold earrings. The disadvantage to leverbacks is that they are usually more expensive, and are more fragile than hooks and posts.

- 11/26/07_With the addition of more metalwork, we are having to change the wording on the website to reflect that fabricated jewelry will now be displayed alongside our standard beaded jewelry. First of many handcrafted sterling earrings features 6mm garnet set in detailed wirework design.
- 10/09/07_After concentrating on beaded items for some time, we will be giving more attention to sterling silver forged and fabrication work. We will begin with some silverwork by Hill Tribes silversmiths, but we hope to expand and feature some forging and cast designs exclusive to Marcus Berkner Jewelry.
