Lampwork Glass Bead and Lapis EarringsThese earrings feature a handmade lampwork glass bead with blue, yellow and green flowers with a black background. A ribbon of green foliage surround the lamp work flowers. Above the center bead is a 4mm natural lapis lazuli bead. Glass beads are created by carefully adding milti-colored layers of glass to a steel rod. The final layer of glass is clear, which gives the bead a rich, 'terrarium' feel. As if you are looking into a fish bowl full of flowers. Each earring is 1 1/2 inches long, top of earhook to bottom of earring. One earring weighs about 5 grams. (A nickel weighs 5 grams.) As shown in the pic to the left each lampwork bead is aproximately as tall as a penny.
All of the metals used in the earrings are sterling silver. The lapis beads range from a medium blue (shown), to a deeper azure blue. Inclusions can be tiny flecks of pyrite to no inclusions at all. Such is the nature of lapis lazuli. We will hopefully be able to feature more lampwork bead earrings on the website, since beautiful and affordable beads are now becoming available. |
