Tiger Eye (or Tiger's Eye) is in the quartz family of minerals.
In the case of tiger eye, silica, or quartz, has replaced the original fibrous mineral. The yellow to red-brown quartz, having replaced the fibrous material, displays a chatoyant effect. Chatoyance refers to the quality in which light seems to 'run across' the surface of a gem stone.
Some tiger eye is heat treated to give the stone a blue or more reddish tint. The honey brown color in the above bracelet is the natural color of the stone.
